PAK FOODS NEW SUPERMARKET OPENS IN BURTON UPON TRENT

Burton based commercial property agents, Rushton Hickman Ltd, has let an 11,690 Sq Ft (1,086 Sq M) retail unit to PAK Foods Group. The unit is prominently located on Derby Road, Burton upon Trent and was previously occupied by Tile Choice, who have relocated locally.

This new PAK Foods supermarket is to open in Burton on Saturday 12th March 2022 at 8.30am with parking for 50 vehicles.

Pak Foods is a family owned business which began operating more than 24 years ago and now has 9 stores across Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, Stoke on Trent, Peterborough and Burton Upon Trent.

PAK Foods is the largest ethnic supermarket group in the Midlands. The company sells a range of international food products, catering for a wide range of cultures and tastes whilst also offering various regular everyday items, from all the best known consumer brands to more niche, hard to find food products like chapati flour, rice and halal meat. There is also an extensive range of non-food household goods stocked.

PAK Foods Director – Adeel Akhtar said “True to our mission of absolute customer satisfaction, PAK Foods has previously been awarded the winner of ‘East Midlands Best Retail Awards’, for overall excellence in the field of food retailing. It was a true testament to the competence of PAK Foods in successfully catering to the needs of a diverse population. We believe in quality, value and above all, service and at PAK Foods, customers always get more! This is our philosophy and the direction taken by the company. Our supply of British fresh produce is something we’re proud of. We aim to buy as much of our produce from local suppliers as is possible, for freshness and to support the local economy.

We are delighted to be getting closer to the opening of our brand new store in Burton upon Trent. We know there is a strong customer demand for our goods in Burton. Customers are having to travel to PAK Foods Derby for the range of specialist products they require so our Burton store will increase convenience. Our new store will create 15 jobs – full and part time and we have been recruiting for the last month. The store will also bring an economic boost to the area and support the city’s post-Covid recovery plans. A lot of work has gone into this and all the family are working really hard behind the scenes.

We have a long history of working within our local communities on social improvement, regeneration and charitable projects and are very much looking forward to continuing this in Burton. The company has plans to expand and improve further, with store refurbishments, completely new stores, an expanding property portfolio and diversifying into new markets – all on the horizon.

Burton has been top of our list for over 5 years but we have never been able to find the right premises. However, Simon Walker at Rushton Hickman approached us with a unit perfect for our needs. The team at Rushton Hickman were fantastic to work with and went above and beyond for us.”

Graham Bancroft, Director at Rushton Hickman said “We are delighted to have let this property to Pak Foods on behalf of our client.  The covenant of Pak Foods enhances their capital value and we can all see the investment that the tenant has put into the premises as well which reiterates their commitment to the store.  We have no doubt that their offering will be welcomed with open arms by the local community.”
